Conservation Easement
In 2008, the McCorkel Tree farm protected its 151 acres of forrest with the help of the ClearWater Conservancy. To view the easement document, click this link.
According to an article in PA Environmental Digest written that year, "Jim McCorkel explained that 'the conservation easement fulfills a dream of our parents to protect the beauty of the woods and preserve the sense of quiet that you get when you go there.' His wife Liz commented that 'it was the right thing to do.' ”

On their website, ClearWater Conservancy writes that their "Land Conservation Program seeks to conserve ecologically important habitats in Central Pennsylvania for all time... We believe people should be free to enjoy the land and its beauty and place a high value on public access and use. Lands we want to conserve provide significant ecological function, are valuable habitats for wildlife, contain unique features or offer new recreational access."
